Patriots vs Bears Injury Report: Five Patriots Sit Out Monday

The New England Patriots listed five players as non-participants on their estimated Monday injury report ahead of Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. Offensive linemen Ben Brown and Alijah Vera-Tucker were among the five sidelined, while right tackle Morgan Moses was limited and quarterback Drake Maye was a full participant. The Patriots and Bears both enter the Week 7 game at 4-2.

Who sat out for the Patriots on Monday?

The Patriots did not practice on Monday, so the Patriots vs Bears injury report is an estimate of who would have taken part. New England listed kicker Andy Borregales (personal), center Ben Brown (knee), cornerback Carlton Davis III (neck), defensive tackle Joshua Farmer (personal) and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) as non-participants.

The Ben Brown injury update for the Patriots matters most up front. Brown and Vera-Tucker both left Sunday's 26-19 win over the New York Jets and did not finish the game. Davis has now missed time with a neck injury, and his absence would test a New England secondary that already has two cornerbacks limited.

What does Morgan Moses being limited mean for New England?

Morgan Moses gives the Patriots a chance to keep part of their starting line together on a short week. The 35-year-old right tackle left the Jets game with a foot injury and played just nine snaps, but Moses was listed as limited on Monday rather than out. Wide receiver A.J. Brown was also limited with an ankle injury in his first week back after missing four games. Brown caught three passes for 27 yards against the Jets.

Head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters on Monday that the short week makes every return uncertain. Vrabel said players who did not finish Sunday's game face a quick turnaround, and New England will have to figure out which 48 players are available for Thursday. The Patriots added offensive linemen Andrew Rupcich and Jacob Rizy to the practice squad on Monday, a move that adds depth if Brown or Vera-Tucker cannot play.

Who was a full participant for the Patriots and Bears?

The good news for New England is the length of its full-participant list. Drake Maye (right shoulder), left tackle Will Campbell (knee) and running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) were all full participants. Safety Kevin Byard III, linebacker Christian Elliss, linebacker Dre'Mont Jones, tackle Marcus Bryant and safety Craig Woodson were also full.

Maye threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets and was not sacked once, even as the line changed around him. Campbell played all 68 offensive snaps against New York despite a knee question last week.

Chicago has its own list for Patriots Bears Thursday Night Football. The Bears listed linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring), guard Jonah Jackson (hip and quad), running back Kyle Monangai (thumb and toe) and linebacker Jack Sanborn (concussion) as non-participants on Monday. Quarterback Caleb Williams was not on the Chicago report after throwing for 305 yards on 30 of 36 passing in Sunday's 31-23 win over Atlanta.

What is next for the Patriots before Thursday night?

The Patriots will issue updated reports on Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling to Chicago. The final report will show whether Brown, Vera-Tucker and Davis can return, and whether Moses progresses from limited to full. New England has won three straight games, but protecting Maye at Soldier Field is the central question of this short week.

Kickoff between the Patriots and Bears is Thursday, October 22 at 8:15 p.m. ET at Soldier Field in Chicago, and the game streams on Prime Video.
